MOE School Calendar 2023Term Dates, Holidays & Exams
2023 is done, kept here for reference, and it was an unusually generous year — 15 days off once the in-lieu Mondays were counted, eight of them on a Monday or Friday.
Chinese New Year was the highlight: it fell on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 January, so Tuesday 24 January came in lieu and most families got Saturday through Tuesday. New Year's Day also fell on a Sunday, giving a bonus Monday on 2 January.
Two one-off events shaped the school year. Polling Day for the Presidential Election fell on Friday 1 September, which was also the last day of Term 3 — so MOE moved the Teachers' Day school holiday to Monday 11 September, the first day back after the September break.

A public holiday falling on a Sunday is followed by a day in lieu on the Monday. One falling on a Saturday does not carry a day in lieu.

Four terms across two semesters. The gap after Term 2 is the mid-year break; the gap after Term 4 is the year-end holiday.
