PSLE Results: Release Date, AL Score & S1 Posting Guide

PSLE results are released at 11am on a date MOE announces. Your child’s PSLE Score runs from 4 to 32, and lower is better. You then choose up to 6 secondary schools on the S1 Portal within 7 calendar days, and MOE releases the posting results in mid-December.

  • Your school’s collection notice and time.
  • A parent with a working Singpass, for the S1 Portal.

Same score, last places: how MOE decides.

MOE posts students by their PSLE results, the order of their school choices and the vacancies in the schools chosen. Better PSLE scores get priority for vacancies. When students tie, MOE applies three tie-breakers, in order.

  1. Tie-breaker 1

    Citizenship

Singapore Citizen, then Permanent Resident, then International Student.

  2. Tie-breaker 2

    Choice order

Who ranked the school higher is considered first.

  3. Tie-breaker 3

    Computerised balloting

“Bryan is considered before Mary as he ranked School B higher in his school choices.”

What next?

MOE has a Prepare for new school term page; follow it for next steps. To get to know the new school, look up its profile in our secondary school directory and its CCAs.

Want a different school? MOE says “The appeal process depends on the reason for the school transfer request.” It points parents to its FAQ page first and to the preferred school’s own website. See MOE, appeal for school transfer.

PSLE results FAQQuick answers, one card each.

When are PSLE results released, and at what time?

MOE announces the PSLE results date on its national exams dates page, and the exact date is shown in the "This year" card at the top of this page. MOE says PSLE results are released at 11am. DSA-Sec students receive their school allocation results together with their PSLE results.

Can I see PSLE results online?

We have not found MOE stating that PSLE results can be viewed online. In its release notice for the previous year, MOE said students receive their results from their primary schools, and that schools share the collection details. Check your primary school's notice for this year.

How is the PSLE AL score worked out?

Each subject is scored on 8 Achievement Levels (ALs). AL1 is 90% and above and AL8 is below 20%. The PSLE Score is the total of the ALs for English, Mathematics, Science and Mother Tongue, so it ranges from 4 to 32, and 4 is the best possible score.

How many secondary school choices can we submit?

MOE allows 6 school choices. Choices are made on the S1 Portal with a Singpass login, and a parent or legal guardian with access to the child's S1 information can submit them.

How long do we have to submit school choices?

The submission period is 7 calendar days, starting from the day PSLE results are released. The S1 Portal opens from 11.30am on that day and closes at 4.30pm on the last day. Complete any amendments before the deadline.

What if I cannot collect the results myself? Can a proxy do it?

MOE's S1 posting page links a proxy form for nominating another adult. In the previous year, MOE said school candidates who could not return to school could appoint a proxy by a date two days after results day. Ask your primary school for this year's deadline.

When and how do we get the S1 posting result?

MOE gives a tentative posting results date, shown in the "This year" card. Parents log in to the S1 Portal with Singpass to view the result from 9am. MOE also sends the posting results by SMS, and parents can contact the child's primary school for them.

Can we appeal for a different secondary school after posting?

MOE has an "Appeal for school transfer" page. It says the appeal process depends on the reason for the transfer request, and suggests checking MOE's FAQ page first and your preferred secondary school's website for its own appeal process. MOE does not set out the grounds or dates on that page.

Tools for the next stepWork out the next move.

This guide follows MOE’s published steps. Dates marked tentative can change, so check the MOE S1 posting page before you act. SGSchoolKaki is not affiliated with MOE.
