Analysis: what changed in 2025
A stable school map
The school map barely moved between 2024 and 2025. Primary provision held at 136 schools nationwide. Secondary provision edged down by one to 96: North-East gained a secondary school (20 → 21) as Punggol and Sengkang keep growing, while North and Central each lost one (17 → 16).
The school network is stable, but enrolment keeps drifting toward the North-East and East as newer estates fill up.

Enrolment drifts north-east
Enrolment tells the demographic story more clearly. Total students across the regions dipped slightly to 419,453 in 2025 from 420,178 (−725). The East and North-East grew while Central, North and West edged down — consistent with families continuing to move toward the newer north-eastern and eastern estates.
What this means for parents
Region totals tell you supply, not your odds — P1 registration turns on the schools within 1–2 km of your home and their phase demand, not how many schools your region has overall. Newer estates like Punggol and Sengkang have many schools but also intense demand. Check your specific standing with our P1 registration distance calculator and browse primary schools by area.
