Understanding JC Cut-Off Points
The Cut-Off Point (COP) is the maximum L1R5 score accepted for admission into a JC programme via JAE. A lower COP means the JC is more competitive. Students with L1R5 scores equal to or below the COP are eligible for that programme.
๐ L1R5 Calculation
L1R5 = 1 Language + 5 Relevant Subjects. Your best grades from O-Levels are used. Lower aggregate = better score. Most JCs require L1R5 of 20 or below.
๐ฏ Bonus Points
Bonus points are deducted from your Gross L1R5 to improve your admission score. You can receive up to 2 points for CCA, and 2 points for Higher Mother Tongue or Affiliation (Max deduction: 4 points).
โ ๏ธ Important: Millennia Institute (L1R4)
Millennia Institute is a 3-year programme using L1R4 (1 Language + 4 Relevant Subjects) instead of L1R5. Their COP values are not directly comparable to other JCs.

How to Use This Data
Set Realistic Targets
Use COP as a benchmark. Your L1R5 must be equal to or lower than the COP to qualify. Aim for a buffer of 1-2 points for safety.
Analyze Trends
Look at 8-year historical trends to identify JCs with rising or stable cut-off points. Green arrows indicate improving (lower) COPs.
Consider Fit
Beyond COP, consider location, culture, and programmes. Science stream typically has lower COPs than Arts. IB programmes offer an alternative pathway.
