Singapore Public Holidays 2027
Every gazetted date, the weekday it falls on, and how to turn them into long weekends — including a 9-day Chinese New Year break and a 9-day May stretch — now with the confirmed 2027 school terms and holidays.

Singapore has 11 gazetted public holidays in 2027, plus one extra day in lieu when Chinese New Year Day 2 lands on a Sunday. Several line up into genuinely long breaks — the best two are a 9-day Chinese New Year stretch and a 9-day “Super May” break.
MOE released the 2027 school terms and holidays on 14 July 2026, so this guide now covers both the public holidays above and the full school calendar below — every term date, every school vacation, and the family-trip windows that actually line up with the school year.

In Singapore, a public holiday falling on a Sunday is followed by a day in lieu on the next Monday. A public holiday falling on a Saturday does not get a day in lieu.
The two breaks worth planning around
Take a handful of well-placed leave days next to these public holidays and 2027 has two genuine 9-day breaks.
Sat 6 Feb – Sun 14 Feb. CNY and its in-lieu Monday already give a natural 3-day weekend (Sat–Mon); add 4 days of leave (Tue–Fri, 9–12 Feb) and it stretches to a full 9-day break.
Sat 15 May – Sun 23 May. Hari Raya Haji (Mon 17) and Vesak Day (Thu 20) sit just three days apart — take Tue 18, Wed 19 and Fri 21 as leave (3 days) to bridge both into one 9-day stretch.

| Labour Day & Christmas | Sat 1 May / Sat 25 Dec | N/ABoth fall on a Saturday | No long weekend on the national calendar |
One caveat for parents: the two 9-day windows above (Chinese New Year and “Super May”) both fall inside school term time — kids only get the Saturday-to-Monday CNY weekend, and a normal school week in May. For trips with school-age children, the school holiday blocks further down are the windows that actually line up.
The 2027 leave-planner calendar
Every month of 2027 at a glance — public holidays in pink, suggested leave days in gold, confirmed school holidays in blue, and weekends muted — so you can see exactly which days to block out to unlock the year's longest breaks.
Take just 10 well-placed leave days in 2027 to unlock four breaks — including two full 9-day stretches (Chinese New Year and May).
January 2027
February 2027
Take 4 days leave — Tue 9 to Fri 12 Feb — and Chinese New Year stretches to 9 days off (Sat 6 – Sun 14 Feb).
March 2027
Hari Raya Puasa is on Wed 10 Mar. Take Thu 11 & Fri 12 Mar (2 days) for a 5-day break (Wed 10 – Sun 14 Mar). The March school holidays then run Sat 13 – Sun 21 Mar (9 days).
April 2027
May 2027
Hari Raya Haji (Mon 17) + Vesak Day (Thu 20) sit close together. Take Tue 18, Wed 19 & Fri 21 May (3 days) for 9 days off (Sat 15 – Sun 23 May). (Note: kids are still in school — Term 2 runs to 28 May.)
June 2027
June school holidays: Sat 29 May – Sun 27 Jun — the year's biggest family-trip window.
July 2027
Youth Day falls on Sun 4 Jul, so schools are closed Mon 5 Jul — students get a Sat 3 – Mon 5 Jul long weekend (not a public holiday for working adults).
August 2027
National Day is Mon 9 Aug (public holiday for everyone), and schools are also closed Tue 10 Aug — students get Sat 7 – Tue 10 Aug (4 days); adults get a 3-day weekend.
September 2027
Teachers' Day (Fri 3 Sep) + September holidays give students 10 straight days off (3–12 Sep).
October 2027
Deepavali is on Thu 28 Oct. Take Fri 29 Oct (1 day) for a 4-day weekend (Thu 28 – Sun 31 Oct). Primary pupils also get Children's Day off on Fri 8 Oct.
November 2027
Year-end school holidays start Sat 20 Nov and run to the end of the year.
December 2027
Kids are on year-end holidays all month. Christmas Day falls on Sat 25 Dec — no day off in lieu for a Saturday public holiday.
Practical tips for families planning around the 2027 calendar
- 1.Book leave early for the two 9-day windows — CNY (early Feb) and Super May are the standout stretches, and both flights and annual-leave slots for popular dates get taken up fast.
- 2.Staycation vs overseas— a 3-day natural long weekend (New Year's, Good Friday, Hari Raya Haji, National Day) suits a local staycation; the two 9-day windows are long enough to justify an overseas trip.
- 3.Balance rest with revision — resist over-scheduling every day of a long break. Children (and parents) benefit more from a mix of downtime and light, steady revision than a packed itinerary followed by a scramble to catch up.

School terms & holidays 2027 — confirmed
MOE published the full 2027 school calendar on 14 July 2026 — four 10-week terms, four vacation periods, and four scheduled school holidays. Here is every date.
The four school terms

Terms in green, school holidays in blue — proportional to how many days each one takes up in the school year.
The two 9-day adult breaks are both term-time for kids
The 9-day Chinese New Year window (Sat 6 – Sun 14 Feb) falls inside Term 1, and the 9-day “Super May” stretch (Sat 15 – Sun 23 May) falls inside Term 2. For a working adult, both are real breaks. For a school-age child, CNY is only a Saturday-to-Monday weekend, and May is a normal school fortnight.
The windows that actually line up with the school calendar are the four blocks above: the March holidays (9 days), the June holidays (30 days), the September holidays (9–10 days including Teachers' Day), and the year-end holidays (6 weeks). Parents planning family travel with school-age children should place annual leave inside those windows instead.

Plan your 2027 breaks early
for SG families mapping out 2027
Adults get two 9-day stretches (CNY and May), but both fall in term time — for trips with the kids, the real windows are the March, June, September and year-end school holidays — worth booking leave for early, and worth keeping light on the calendar in between.
A long weekend works best with real rest, not a packed itinerary — leave room to breathe between activities.
Book leave early — inside the school holidays if the kids are coming, around CNY or May if it's an adults-only break. Popular dates and flights go fast, and public holiday arrangements can vary by employer, so check your company leave policy as you plan.
Frequently asked questions
How many public holidays does Singapore have in 2027?
Singapore has 11 gazetted public holidays in 2027, counting both days of Chinese New Year. Because Chinese New Year Day 2 (7 Feb) falls on a Sunday, there is also one additional day off in lieu on Monday 8 February — so most people effectively get 12 holiday dates on the calendar.
When is Chinese New Year 2027?
Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday 6 February (Day 1) and Sunday 7 February (Day 2). Because Day 2 falls on a Sunday, Monday 8 February 2027 is a public holiday in lieu — giving a natural 3-day long weekend from Saturday to Monday.
Which 2027 public holidays fall on a weekend?
Four 2027 public holidays fall on a weekend: Chinese New Year Day 1 (Sat 6 Feb), Chinese New Year Day 2 (Sun 7 Feb), Labour Day (Sat 1 May), and Christmas Day (Sat 25 Dec). Because Chinese New Year Day 2 falls on a Sunday, Monday 8 February is a public holiday in lieu on the national calendar.
Do Saturday public holidays get a day off in lieu?
It depends on your employer. On the national calendar, only public holidays that fall on a Sunday add a public holiday in lieu (the following Monday) for everyone — in 2027 that is Chinese New Year. For a public holiday that falls on a Saturday, such as Labour Day (1 May) or Christmas Day (25 Dec) 2027, MOM guidelines say that if it lands on a non-working day for you, your employer should give a day off in lieu or an extra day of pay. Arrangements vary, so check your company leave policy.
Are the 2027 school holiday dates confirmed?
Yes. MOE published the 2027 school terms and holidays on 14 July 2026. The four school vacation periods are: March holidays (Sat 13 – Sun 21 Mar, 9 days), June holidays (Sat 29 May – Sun 27 Jun, 30 days), September holidays (Sat 4 – Sun 12 Sep, 9 days), and year-end holidays (Sat 20 Nov – Fri 31 Dec, 42 days / 6 weeks).
When do the 2027 school terms start and end?
Primary and secondary schools have four 10-week terms in 2027: Term 1 runs Mon 4 Jan – Fri 12 Mar (P1 and Kindergarten 1 pupils start Mon 4 Jan; P2–P6 and K2 pupils start Tue 5 Jan), Term 2 runs Mon 22 Mar – Fri 28 May, Term 3 runs Mon 28 Jun – Fri 3 Sep, and Term 4 runs Mon 13 Sep – Fri 19 Nov.
When are the June school holidays in 2027?
The June school holidays run from Saturday 29 May to Sunday 27 Jun 2027 — 30 days, the longest school break of the year apart from the year-end holidays. The nearest public holiday before it starts is Vesak Day on Thursday 20 May, which falls during Term 2 while school is still in session.
