New 70-Point UAS SystemNew 70-Point UAS System
Complete guide to the new University Admission Score (UAS) system effective 2026. Understanding the shift from 90 to 70 points, MTL optional inclusion, and simplified scoring.
Key Changes (Verified MOE Policy)
90 → 70 Points
Base formula: 3 H2 (60) + GP (10) = 70. 4th H1 or MTL only if improves score.
MTL is Optional
MTL included ONLY if it improves your score. Rebased from /80 to /70 scale.
H3 Separate from UAS
H3 subjects remain separate credentials (scholarships, tie-breakers) - no UAS points.
Project Work: Pass/Fail
PW no longer contributes points - just needs to be passed.
4th Subject Dropped
Only best 3 H2 + GP counted, unless 4th subject improves score.
Effective 2026
For JC1 cohort of 2024, taking A-Levels in 2025, entering uni in 2026.

4th H1 or MTL included only if they improve score (rebased: ×70/80 for one, ×70/90 for both)
UAS Component Comparison (Old vs New)
| Component | Old System (90 pts) | New System (70 pts) |
|---|---|---|
| H2 Subjects (Best 3) | 60 pts (20×3) | 60 pts (20×3) |
| H1 General Paper | 10 pts | 10 pts |
| H1 Project Work | 10 pts | Pass/Fail |
| 4th Content Subject | 10 pts (Mandatory) | Dropped* |
| H1 MTL | Optional (Rebased /100) | Optional (Rebased /80) |
| H3 Bonus | Separate (No UAS pts) | Removed |
| Total Maximum | 90 pts | 70 pts |
* 4th content subject is dropped in the new system unless it improves your score.

The Rebasing System
Extra subjects (4th H1 content or MTL) are included ONLY if they improve your score. When included, your score is rebased to maintain max 70.
Base only: (3×H2 + GP) out of 70
With 4th H1: (3×H2 + GP + 4th H1) × 70/80
With MTL only: (3×H2 + GP + MTL) × 70/80
With 4th H1 + MTL: (3×H2 + GP + 4th H1 + MTL) × 70/90
Example: When MTL Helps vs Hurts
✓ Student A (MTL HELPS):
Base: 3 H2 As (60) + GP B (8.75) = 68.75/70
With MTL A (10): (60 + 8.75 + 10) × 70/80 = 68.91/70
68.91 > 68.75 → INCLUDE MTL (+0.16 pts)
✗ Student B (MTL HURTS):
Base: 3 H2 As (60) + GP A (10) = 70/70 (perfect)
With MTL B (8.75): (60 + 10 + 8.75) × 70/80 = 68.91/70
68.91 < 70 → DO NOT include MTL (-1.09 pts)

H2 Subjects Are Everything
Your 3 best H2 subjects = 60 of 70 points
Old system: 60/90 = 66.7% → New system: 60/70 = 85.7%
GP Now Weighs 29% More
General Paper: 10 points = 14.3% of UAS
Old: 10/90 = 11.1% → New: 10/70 = 14.3% (+29% relative increase)
Quick Cutoff Conversion
New cutoff ≈ Old × 0.78 (or × 70/90)
Example: Old IGP 85 × (70/90) = 66.1 → New IGP ~66
