Fee category2Living costs
NUS publishes S$6,000 a year excluding accommodation plus on-campus accommodation of S$4,000 to S$10,290 a year (excluding vacation). Low = S$6,000 + S$4,000; high = S$6,000 + S$10,290; mid = midpoint (our arithmetic). NUS living costs.
3Scholarship
Modelled as subsidised tuition covered after the Tuition Grant, plus S$5,800 living and S$3,000 accommodation a year and a one-off S$1,750 computer allowance. It does not remove the Tuition Grant bond; eligibility and the grade to keep are set by each university.
4Part-time work
Wage is your assumption, not a minimum wage. MOM caps term-time work at 16 hours a week for international students at these six universities, with no weekly limit in vacation (MOM). Exchange students may not work.
5HESL study loan
Paying without a loan. Switch on to borrow up to 45% of subsidised tuition (not means-tested) plus a living allowance loan of up to S$4,100 a year (only if household income per person is S$1,875 a month or less).

NUS, NTU and SMU fees at a glance
Annual tuition for international students, AY2026/27, including 9% GST. The Tuition Grant lowers the fee in exchange for a 3-year work obligation in Singapore; without it you pay the full fee and have no bond.

Questions about Singapore university fees
01How much are NUS fees for international students?
On the latest published fees (AY2026/27), NUS Computing costs an ASEAN student S$18,050 a year and other international students S$21,400 a year with the MOE Tuition Grant, or S$39,700 a year without it. NUS Business is S$21,150 / S$22,200 with the Grant and S$33,400 without. Fees for the 2027 intake are not yet published.
02How much are NTU tuition fees for international students?
For the 2026 intake most NTU programmes cost S$18,050 a year for ASEAN students and S$21,400 for other international students with the Tuition Grant; without it the lab-based rate is S$40,600. NTU fixes the fee for the whole degree at the rate of your intake year.
03What does the calculator include?
Tuition (with or without the Tuition Grant), compulsory miscellaneous fees, living costs from university estimates, an ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship or any other award, part-time earnings within the 16-hour term-time limit, an optional HESL loan with monthly, quarterly and yearly repayments, and conversion into 12 currencies.
04Does the calculator work for Singapore citizens or PRs?
No. It uses international-student fees only. Citizens and permanent residents pay lower subsidised fees and have different loan limits (HESL covers up to 90% for citizens and 65% for PRs, versus 45% for international students).
05Is the HESL loan included automatically?
No. The loan is off by default because many families pay without borrowing. Switch it on to borrow up to 45% of subsidised tuition, plus a means-tested living allowance loan of up to S$4,100 a year. HESL is only available to students on the subsidised (Tuition Grant) fee.
Estimates only, not financial or immigration advice. Fees are cohort-based and can change for later intakes; confirm every figure with the university and lender before you commit.
