From 14 July 2026, families with a Singapore Citizen child aged 0–12 in 2026 receive a one-off $500 in Child LifeSG Credits, credited automatically to the child's CDA trustee (usually a parent) via the LifeSG app. There is no application. The credits are digital and spendable at merchants accepting PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR — they are not a cash top-up into the child's Child Development Account (CDA). This support was announced at Budget 2026.

When and How It's Credited

Credits are disbursed from 14 July 2026, straight to the child's CDA trustee (usually a parent) in the LifeSG app digital wallet. Trustees are notified by SMS from “gov.sg”; check the balance in the LifeSG app under “My Benefits”.

Where you can spend it

At physical or online merchants accepting PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR— to defray household expenses such as groceries, utilities and pharmacy items.

Important: Child LifeSG Credits ≠ CDA Top-Up

Child LifeSG Credits are one-off spendable digital credits you use yourself at ordinary merchants. They are NOT deposited into the child's Child Development Account (CDA) as savings, and are separate from CDA co-matching.

A separate MSF rule — that CDA moneyscannot be used at optical shops and retail pharmacies from 1 January 2026 — applies to the CDA, NOT to Child LifeSG Credits.

Expiry

Child LifeSG Credits are valid for 12 months from disbursement; unspent credits are forfeited (no extension — the 12-month validity was confirmed unchanged in Parliament on 7 May 2026). The exact expiry date is shown in the LifeSG app.

What About the $500 Edusave / PSEA Top-Ups?

2025 context — not part of Budget 2026

The $500 Edusave top-up for Singapore Citizen students aged 13–16 and the $500 PSEA top-up for Singapore Citizen students aged 17–20 were part of Budget 2025 and were disbursed in July 2025 — they are not part of the Budget 2026 package and have not been confirmed to repeat in 2026. If your teen received a $500 Edusave/PSEA top-up, that was the 2025 measure.

How those education accounts work (ongoing)

  • Edusave: funds cover approved school-organised fees and enrichment programmes (restricted to MOE-approved school fees/programmes).
  • PSEA: funds can pay for approved programmes at approved institutions (for the holder or siblings) and repay government education loans such as the Higher Education Student Loan (HESL) or the CPF Education Loan Scheme.
  • Edusave balances transfer to the PSEA in the year the child turns 17 or is no longer in an MOE-funded school (whichever is later); MOE sends a notice around age 31 about transferring any remaining PSEA balance to a sibling.

The bottom line

The 2026 Child LifeSG Credits put $500 of spendable support in reach of families with young Singaporean children. Check the LifeSG app to confirm the credits and note the 12-month expiry so none is forfeited.

Note on completeness: Scoped to what is confirmed for 2026 on primary MSF/MOF/MOE pages. The $500 Edusave/PSEA teen top-ups are a Budget 2025 measure (July 2025) and are included only as historical context; no MOE/MSF primary page confirms a 2026 repeat. The 12-month expiry is sourced from MSF's ask.gov.sg FAQ and a 7 May 2026 Parliamentary reply rather than the main July-2026 press release.
