got offers from both nus medicine and nus dentistry. initially thought medicine is the dream but now having second thoughts concerns about medicine: - 5-6 years of study then many more years of residency/housemanship - extremely long working hours especially during housemanship - high stress dealing with life and death situations - might need go to overseas for certain specializations dentistry pros that attracting me: - shorter study duration (4 years) - more work-life balance from what i heard - can open own clinic eventually, more entrepreneurial control - still in healthcare field helping people but also worries: - dentistry seem more monotonous? just teeth all day everyday - medicine seem more intellectually stimulating and varied - prestige factor (i know its shallow but yeah medicine more "respected") honestly both good careers but im realizing medicine path is LONG grind. by the time im done with specialization might be mid-30s. dentistry can finish earlier and start earning earlier for those in or graduated from either field - what was your experience? do you have good work-life balance? career satisfaction? any regrets? would really appreciate honest perspectives cause this decision quite hard to reverse once made
