Unlike NUS and NTU, SMU conducts interviews for every shortlisted applicant. Prepare for questions about your interests, goals, and why you chose SMU. Some programs also have a written test component.

Before Results: Prepare (Optional)

SMU portal is already open โ€” you can draft essays early if you want. Research courses, check IGP cutoffs, prepare CCA list.

Results Day: Collect & Calculate

Collect your results, calculate your UAS score, and check which courses you're competitive for. NUS and NTU portals will open on this day.

Week 1-2: Submit All Applications

Apply to NUS, NTU, and SMU. Don't put all eggs in one basket โ€” apply to all three! Submit well before the 19 March deadline to avoid technical issues.

After Submission: Track & Prepare

Log in regularly to check status. Respond promptly to interview invitations (especially SMU). Prepare for aptitude tests if required for your courses.

Q:When do Singapore university applications close in 2026?

For Singapore-Cambridge A-Level candidates: NUS, NTU, and SMU all close on 19 March 2026. The NUS/NTU portals open on A-Level results day (late Feb 2026), giving you about 3 weeks.

Q:Do I need projected grades to apply to NUS?

No. Singapore A-Level candidates apply with their actual results after the release in late February. The Feb 23 deadline you may see online is for International Qualifications (IB, overseas diplomas), not local A-Levels.

Q:Can I apply to NUS, NTU, and SMU at the same time?

Yes! You can and should apply to all three. Each has a separate portal. There's no limit on applications. You can accept/decline offers later based on which you prefer.

Q:When will I know if I am accepted?

Admission results are typically released between late April and May 2026. SMU may release earlier as they conduct interviews. Check your email and portals regularly.
