For the 2025 exercise, this is 30 months from 1 July 2025. If you move, MOE may transfer your child to another school.
P1 Registration Phases Explained
P1 registration runs over 5 phases, each with specific eligibility criteria. Understanding which phase you qualify for is crucial for your registration strategy.
Phase 1
•Sibling Priority
For Siblings of Current Students
If your child has a sibling studying in the school. All eligible applicants are guaranteed a place.
Phase 2A
•Alumni/Staff Connection

Phase 2B

Understanding Balloting
Balloting occurs when a school receives more applications than available places. Here's what you need to know:
How Balloting Works
MOE conducts computerized balloting
All applicants have equal chance within their priority category
Priority goes by citizenship then distance
SC within 1km > SC 1-2km > SC beyond 2km > PR within 1km > ...
Unsuccessful applicants continue to next phase
You can register for another school in subsequent phases
"Computerised balloting will be conducted centrally by MOE. All applicants who are required to ballot are assured of an equal chance for admission." — MOE Balloting Guide
Use Our Tool to Check Oversubscription
Our P1 registration tool shows which schools were oversubscribed in previous years and which phases conducted balloting. This helps you make informed decisions about where to apply!
