Core A-Level Requirements (MOE Official)
According to MOE's A-Level curriculum page, all JC students must offer:
Standard: 3H2 + 1H1
- 3 H2 content-based subjects
- 1 H1 content-based subject
- H1 GP - compulsory
- Project Work - compulsory
- H1 MTL - Mother Tongue
4 H2 Option (High Achievers)
- 4 H2 content-based subjects
- Requires L1R5 ≤ 10 pts (raw)
- AND ≤ 8 pts in 4 relevant O-Level subjects

The Contrasting Subject Rule
According to National Junior College, at least one of your four content subjects must be from a contrasting discipline:
Science Stream Students
Must take at least one from Humanities & Arts:
- Economics
- Geography
- History
- Literature in English
- Art
- China Studies in English
- Theatre Studies & Drama
- Knowledge & Inquiry (KI)
Arts Stream Students
Must take at least one from Science & Mathematics:
- Mathematics (H1 or H2)
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Computing
- Further Mathematics

From AY2026, based on NUS Official FAQs (January 2026):
Key Change: Your fourth H1/H2 content-based subject will only be counted if it improves your score. This means you can choose your fourth subject by interest without worrying about grades! Maximum UAS is now 70 points.
